Weekend

Right, I just wrote a fab (and very funny-hilarious in fact ;-) ) post and my b!~%* computer just ate it and I can’t be bothered to rewrite it so the highlights were
-I felt ill
-The children went with their dad for the weekend
-I got nothing done except for my LEA report
-My friend S has a new job that she likes and it was lovely to see her on Saturday.
I’m very grumpy now and i’m going to bed.I’m also going to shout at the tesco man in the morning for my horrible broadband not working properly :-( .

“we’re having a housewarming but it’s not at our house”

I love my friends. It has to be said that you have to be a little bit strange(different, weird, unusual, thinking outside the box-pick your adjective really :-) ) to be my friend- it’s not required but on close inspection they all seem a bit bonkers ;-) ).So on Friday night I headed off to a housewarming.Perfectly normal you might think but this housewarming wasn’t even in the same town as the house to be ‘warmed’ let alone the right house! But it was a great party with loads of lovely people, though my social skills definitely need polishing as I still don’t cope well with large groups of people I don’t know, and I learnt that I’m going to be a bridesmaid - if my best friend and her lovely chap get round to doing the deed as it were(so cool but don’t know what the kids will make of it all). Also met the other bridesmaid who’s lovely and beautiful and less than half my size-I suggested dresses that made us look like meringues as I already had a headstart ;-) .
Education wise we’ve had a couple of laidback days.Popped to the library yesterday to update our booktrack, which the kids love doing, and they all helped me plan next weeks food according to budget (and favourites obviously :-) ). Completed our ‘normals’both days and cuddled up to watch my family and other animals (still on tape from xmas)which was lovely to do on a cold day.J and K arrived for tea, babysitting duties and a good gossip on friday before the Brownie run for Pea 2 and SweetP whilst Pea 1,K and L from next door stayed in the warm to play.
OH and Pea 1 on being promised a prize for every 25 books she read and wrote on her book tree promptly sat down down and read 25 in a row!

“Mum,it’s cold in here”

Well put on a jumper then.Thursday was cold and, due to the gas bill of £167 arriving, it stayed cold (well, warm rather than the tropical heat my house usually is).A small note at the top of my bill about prices rising last october would have made me laugh but I was unsure whether my tears of laughter would have frozen on my cheeks so decided better of it :-) . So as the next bill will be due just before our holiday it had better be a little bill and as such if you’re coming to visit us-bring a coat -it’s cold in here ;-) .

Started with a giggle when I realised Tuesdays post should have been called Twit-twooesday after the owl incident and then I realised it was 9:30 and we had to be at group in an hour, hadn’t done our spanish homework and weren’t even dressed-oops.So,after a bit of rushing, got to group about 11ish and the girls went to play in the freezing cold park as I hid in the nice warm hut. Most of the other kids had gone into a drama session but as we already attend a drama group we gave this a miss.
Girls wolfed down lunch(tuna mayo on pumpkin seed bread sandwiches and some crisps)-must be all that running around working up an appetite-and we headed into spanish apologising for the lack of homework.Spanish this week was about describing your family and it was good to see the children getting a bit braver and having a go at repeating phrases in the class. In the afternoon, the girls went outside to join in with some environmental games-rather them than me it was blimming freezing-but it was obviously enjoyed as very cold but happy children kept appearing to say what was going on.
After group,we hung around to wait for sweetP’s music lesson and thawed out wonderfully with l and S in S’s lovely van (Thank you :-) ). It was good to catch up with S and hear how her week was going but the time was up too soon and the weekly rush to drama began again (we have 20mins between the groups to run to a different venue about 20 mins walk away-always a push even if we’re out on time).Met J in the arts centre for a warming cup of tea (or a swift pint or two for some ;-) )-sweetP has decided she doesn’t want to go to drama this term as it’s boring-so settled next to us as we gossiped.I was getting excited about a new series of C.S.I, J was excited about Joaquin Phoenix (no change there then ;-) )
Another one of the drama mums, who was sat at our table, very kindly gave SweetP some colouring to occupy her and it was nice to talk without the noise of Pea 1,Pea 2 and O (J’s dd).All too soon the time was up and after popping J and O home we grabbed some chips and went home to tea and bed.

Tuesday-I’m sorry I seem to have blinked and missed it

I know it was only yesterday but I REALLY can’t remember what we did lol.
I know that we went into town to pay bills and get shopping and then hama-ed( hamaed doesn’t look right either eek!) a bit but the rest of the day escapes me-i’m sure something educational happened lol.Oh, I’ve just remembered the children watched a say it with Noddy program on how to say hello and goodbye in Mandarin that I’d taped and Blue Peter from Monday and I helped SPea try to work out the schools maths on the BBC.She did amazingly well considering the programs are aimed at year 5 and she would only be in year 3-she was pleased to be a master spy on percentages :-) So education from t.v was obviously the order of the day :-D
Then off to music group with Pea 2 and a lovely chat with another mum which was nice but returned to car to discover disgruntled children complaining of neglect at being left (bad mum moment)so bribed them with helping with tea and big cuddles and harmony reigned yay!
That was however short-lived as my lovely home cooked spag bol was deemed nice but not as nice as Pea 1’s vegi option-from a tin macaroni cheese-and the vegetarian/meat eaters were at war again. Pea 1 is the only vegetarian in the family and this does tend to cause a backlash if the others feel that we are all eating vegi because of it,though our eating habits haven’t changed since she became vegi (except for a lack of chicken as I saw an awful program about them and couldn’t bear buying chicken anymore :-( ).
Bathed them all and told them I was too tired to read to them, settled into a lovely warm bath myself and there the day should have ended but as I wallowed in bubbles and the children were quiet, I heard a noise. An owl was in the tree outside hooting and much as I tried to be just a woman in a bath the home-ed mother in me was soon standing at the front door in a towel with three eager wide awake children listening to and trying to spot said owl.So needless to say the bath was cold and non-bubbly by the time the excitement had passed and I settled for an early night.

If you go down to the woods today…..

…Then you wouldn’t have seen us!
Despite the obvious lure of hanging out at an enviromentally built camp in the woods on a cold january day :-) I just couldn’t get moving today.Shame really as I’m sure we would have learnt loads but decided to hide in doors and continue our Africa project.
We’ve now finished our (really rather lovely-I think) collage of Africa and learnt loads of cool facts-I have anyway don’t know about the kids lol. It is a tad larger than I planned(almost as tall as my 7 year old) but looks pretty funky and the kids have enjoyed making it whilst listening to African stories and music.
We’ve covered all the basics today too-workbooks,reading,maths,ambleside and diaries so spent the rest of the day happy hama-ing(really don’t know how I should write that hamaing just doesn’t look right but hey)African animals and fruit before fielding various phonecalls from friends and then running a very late girls brigader out the door at 7.30-she should be there at 7.00. So the day kind of ended in chaos which was a bit annoying as then we all felt snappy with one another, though a bedtime snuggle up reading Heidi definitely smoothed mother /daughter relations :-)
So that was Monday.

O.k ,So I try not to watch too much t.v but every show I enjoy seems to have started a new series recently and quite a few new ones look promising(I tried to cutback last year and then had to listen to everyone rave about Lost which I had decided not to watch). So as I know that some weeks I barely watch t.v at all,I figure a few weeks of being ‘glued to the gogglebox’ every night won’t kill all of my braincells(those I have left obviously )
Now, back to the title of my post, this show is cool as beans. It takes a lot to make me go goosebumpy and spooked but this does it -so good I actually watched it twice! Can’t wait until next weeks episode!!
